Edward Allan (captain), Nick McGill (vice captain) and James Higgins (vice captain), will lead the club in the 2024 season. Edward steps up from his VC role in 2023 where he displayed exemplary leadership and unquestionable courage right through the season. Edward will be supported by James Higgins who had a stellar year for the club in 2023 and Nick McGill, who was in the leadership group from 2019-2022, before spending the 2023 season working in Sydney. These 3 old scholars bleed blue and have demonstrated an unwavering desire to do anything for the club, both on and off the field. All 3 men have exceptional leadership qualities, with instructional voice, strength of character, on field displays of courage and desire, as well as a strong connection with all players and coaches.
SPOC Footy Chair Guy Roberts said “ The Committee is delighted to endorse the appointments of Ed Allan as Club Captain, supported by Nick McGill and James Higgins as Vice Captains. They are all outstanding young men, highly skilled at footy, but also displaying SPOC values of teamwork and respect. Ed displays courage, determination and drive, but above all will try his best to take his team with him. As Club Captain, Ed will also place a solid emphasis on the rest of the playing cohort in the other teams. James and Nick display similar traits and all three will do their very best to ensure team success and thereby Club success".
